Has Your Troop Been Promoted?

Take advantage of our services. Between the months of January and May every year the Anpetu-We Lodge will provide a presentation on the services available at summer camp. We’ll also discuss opportunities for weekend camp-outs. It’s important for each of your scouts to go camping with their troops. Give them a chance to hear summer camp experiences from someone closer to their own age. (No offense) We’ll visit your troop meetings or promote you at a camporee. Give the Cape Service Center a call or ask members of you own Order of the Arrow Chapter for more information. Get promoted today!

Is Your Troop Being Represented?

Have you heard about one of the newest leadership positions that the Boy Scouts of America has to offer? The Troop Representative position is a joint position between the Order of the Arrow and to Boy Scouts of America in order to provide leadership experience to our youth. The troop representative is also an official scout leadership position that counts toward advancement just like a senior patrol leader or a den chief. Here are just a few of the troop representative responsibilities:
  • Serves as a communications link between the lodge or chapter and the troop.
  • Encourages year round and resident camping in the troop and helps organize camp promotions.
  • Encourages older Scout participation in high adventure programs.
  • Encourages Scouts to actively participate in community service projects.
  • Encourages Arrowmen to assume leadership positions in the troop.
  • Encourages Arrowmen in the troop to be active participants in the lodge and/or chapter activities and to seal their membership in the Order by becoming Brotherhood members.
  • Sets a good example by wearing the Scout uniform correctly, living by the Scout Oath, Law, and OA Obligation, and by showing Scout spirit.

Troop Representatives must be under 18 years old and be an OA member in good standing. They are appointed by the SPL and approved by the scoutmaster. The patch above is to be worn on the same place a patrol leader patch would be worn and is available at our council scout shops. For more information on this new and exciting position, contact the Cape Girardeau Service Center.
